(RNN) – WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has moved into the ‘80s-mullet-wearing, synthpop-singing makeover phase of his campaign for the Australian Senate.

The Aussie did not let his exile in the Ecuadorian embassy prevent him from appearing on the hip-hop inspired YouTube show Juice Rap News. Assange donned a silver wig – business in the front, party in the back – and lip-synced You're the Light, a spoof of John Farnham's 1986 hit You're the Voice.

WARNING: Video contains some foul language. Assange segment begins at 3:34.

"We have a chance to turn the pages over," he sang. "We can write what we want to write; we got to make things leak so we can get much bolder."

The chorus began with, "You're the light that the world's demanding, make it bright and make things clear."

"Oh-oh-oh-oh-ohohohoh," he added. "Whoa-oh-oh-oh-ohohohoh."

The episode also featured actors doing satirical, Game of Thrones-inspired takes on former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and former Prime Minister Julia Gillard. Also, Leader of the Opposition Tony Abbott wears a speedo and turns into Gollum from Lord of the Rings.

Assange has taken asylum inside Ecuador's London embassy for more than a year to avoid extradition to Sweden, where he faces charges of sex crimes against two women.

Assange has denied the claims. He insisted they are the result of political pressure from the U.S. and its aligned nations after WikiLeaks published hundreds of thousands of documents from Bradley Manning on the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.

If he were to win the Senate election, Assange and the WikiLeaks Party said they would nominate someone to fill the seat until he could return to the country.
