This week is the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech.
Dr. King's immortal words of courage and hope rallied the nation, and his words matter as much now as they did on August 28, 1963.
As you've seen in our newscasts here on News Leader 9, many local residents, including the Young Minority Leaders of Columbus, traveled to Washington to re-trace Dr. King's steps and remind us why his speech still matters today.
But there is much more to learn, so we also want you to know about a special program we will air on our digital sub -channel called "Bounce."
It's called "King: A Filmed Record… Montgomery to Memphis" and the first time the program will be shown on television is Wednesday night, August 28 at 7 p.m.
You can watch the Bounce channel over the air on channel 9.2. If you have cable or satellite, visit this link to find the right channel number on your cable system.
We think the message Dr. King delivered 50 years ago is critically important today. We encourage you to go to our website to learn more about Dr. King's legendary speech.
Watch our news coverage of this important anniversary and watch the special documentary on Dr. King's life.
Most of all, we urge you to keep Dr. King's dream alive!
