LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

One of the many roads closed because of debris left behind by flooding in the northwest part of the Las Vegas Valley on Sunday afternoon reopened Tuesday.

The Nevada Department of Transportation said State Route 157, heading to Mount Charleston, was closed Monday because of the damage caused by the flooding. On Tuesday, officials said the highway was reopened to all traffic, but they warned drivers to use caution in the area because efforts to rebuild the road continue.

Crews were still working to repair several roads that were damaged by Sunday's weather.

Diana Paul, spokeswoman for Las Vegas city government, said motorists should avoid Grand Teton Drive, Fort Apache Road, El Capitan Way and Durango Drive. She recommended Elkhorn as an alternate route.

She also said Farm Road is closed from Tenaya Way to Jones Boulevard, and heavy debris is blocking parts of Cliff Shadows Parkway and Lone Mountain Road.

"These roadways have become flooded with a black, mucky combination of water, ash and soot," Paul said in a statement. "This is an extremely slippery mixture, and if driven through, is much like driving on ice."

Damon Hodge, public information officer for the NDOT, said Oso Blanco Road was closed between State Route 157 and Horse Drive.

On Monday, North Las Vegas city officials reopened Aliante Parkway after debris pick-up shut down after Sunday's rain storm. The city initially slated the parkway closed between Specula Wing Drive and Grand Teton Drive through Tuesday afternoon.

Flooding has caused between $300,000 and $500,000 in damage, Paul said.
