PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Phoenix voters have helped shape the City Council for the next four years.

Two seats were pretty much set after Tuesday's primary. On Friday, the final unofficial results were released.

Incumbent Sal DiCiccio faced a heated high-priced primary challenge from Karlene Keogh Parks.

But with a nearly 2,800-vote lead out of nearly 30,000 votes cast in District 6, his eyes were set on moving forward.

"Voters made a strong statement tonight," DiCiccio said. "They do not want to be on the same path as Detroit (which declared bankruptcy) and now it's incumbent upon the city to follow the direction of the voters."

In District 2, Jim Waring beat Virgel Cain by a landslide.

But the District 4 open-seat race looks to be headed to a runoff with a close contest between Justin Johnson and Laura Pastor.

In District 8, Kate Gallego is very close to that 50 percent threshold that would help her avoid a runoff with Warren Stewart.

In Prescott, Mayor Marlin Kuykendall won a third term.

Unofficial results show him with a 1,600-vote lead over former City Councilwoman Lindsay Bell.

Man people said they believed their perception of how he and the city handled the deaths and benefits for the 19 fallen Granite Mountain Hotshots would affect their vote.
