CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

19 Action News has learned of an internal investigation into rookie Cleveland firefighters.

The investigation focuses on new firefighters celebrating their graduation from the training academy.  They're accused of taking down one of the academy's pictures of former Chief Daryl McGinnis, putting the picture in urinals at two bars and urinating on it.

The incident happened on August 16 at two bars in the Kamm's Corners area.

City Hall says a new Internal Affairs Investigator just started for the fire department on August 18, and he is already dealing with this.

Earlier this month, 34 firefighter cadets and five EMS cadets graduated. Ed Eckart, with the Department of Public Safety, tells 19 Action News the investigation could lead to discipline, possibly firing or criminal charges.
