COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Firefighters and emergency personnel are teaming up to host a fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association charity.

Fire trucks will be stationed at several Wal-Mart, Piggly Wiggly and Winn Dixie locations. Organizers say this is the last boot drive of the year.

"We'll be out taking up money for MDA," said Chief Ricky Shores with the Columbus Fire Department. "As you know, the money we collect here locally stays in the counties in this region, it's not shipped off to some home office, to help children in this area that suffer from several of these diseases that are covered under the definition of muscular dystrophy."

The boot drive is this Saturday and Sunday starting at 9 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m.
