NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. visits Shaw High School

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. paid a visit to Shaw High School for their Raiders to Graduate program today, August 30.

During the event aimed to motivate students to graduate high school in four years, Earnhardt encouraged the students to work hard and earn their education. He also opened the floor to a live Q&A session with the school's news class.

"You just don't have the opportunities without a diplomawhen you're out of school. It's a big handicap… So it's real important to tryto get these kids to realize how it affects them down the road," Earnhardt toldthe press," says Earnhardt. 

Congressman Sanford Bishop, Mayor Teresa Tomlinson and other city officials were also present for the event.
