BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

The Crimson Tide looked a little rough around the edges, but still played a dominant game against the Virginia Tech Hokies on Saturday.

After keeping VA Tech to a single yard in their first series, Alabama scored the first time the team touched the ball. Christion Jones returned an A.J. Hughes punt right through the Hokie punt team for a 72-yard touchdown. Cade Foster's extra point was good.

The Tide made their first offensive touchdown for the season with an 11-play drive capped with a 2-yard T.J. Yeldon Rush. Yeldon crossed the goal line with 1:53 remaining in the 1st quarter. Foster's extra point was again good.

The Hokies put a halt to the Tide momentum on the first play of their next series. Trey Edmunds rushed 77 yards through the Alabama defense for the touchdown and Cody Journell brought the score to 14-7.

The Tide momentum did not lag for long. An intercepted Logan Thomas pass by Alabama's Vinnie Sunseri was taken 38 yards for another touchdown about a minute into the second quarter. The extra point set the score at 21-7.

The Hokies added to their score near the end of the half with a 39-yard field goal after a 7-play drive. The 21-10 score did not last long as Christion Jones returned the following kickoff across 94-yards for another Tide touchdown. The extra point was good and the game went to halftime at 28-10.

Coming back from the locker room, neither team seemed to be able to get the upper hand. Eventually, Alabama was able to break through with a pass to Christion Jones for a 38-yard touchdown at 3:43 in the 3rd quarter. The Cade Foster extra point set the score at 35-10.

The remainder of the third quarter and the entirety of the 4th quarter went scoreless.

Alabama takes next week off before hitting the road to take on Texas A&M.
