MILLBROOK, AL (WSFA) -

Friends and family say a Millbrook man was hit by a car and left to die on Sandtown Road early Saturday morning.

Roderick Reeves, 44, was reportedly walking home around 3:30 a.m. Saturday when a car hit him and didn't stop to help.  Family members say a good Samaritan drove up on Reeves' lifeless body, still in the roadway, and called 911.

First responders weren't sure how long Reeves had been laying there when they arrived on the scene. His pulse was faint and he had to be resuscitated on the way to Baptist Medical Center South.

Loved ones say he's bruised up, has several broken bones, a punctured lung and a cut down the back of his head. Reeves also had to receive a blood transfusion.

Reeve's remains heavily sedated and has not given any account of the hit-and-run.

WSFA 12 News has not received official word of an investigation by the Millbrook Police Department. However, family members say it's under investigation. According to eyewitnesses, a dark blue or black bumper and remnants from the vehicle's headlights were in the road after the accident, likely that of a sedan.

According to the City of Millbrook, incidents involving pedestrians are investigated as a homicide. Family members are offering a $500 reward to anyone with information that leads to an arrest.

If you have any information, please call your local police department.
