The Troy Police Department says it has arrested and charged a suspect wanted in connection to a Wednesday night shooting.

Chief Jimmy Ennis' office says 31-year-old Walter Jermaine Young surrendered Thursday afternoon at the Troy Police Department and was then charged with attempted murder.

Young was wanted for a shooting that happened around 8 p.m. in the 500 block of Hubbard Street. Officers responded to the Troy Regional Medical Center Emergency Room after being advised of a shooting victim.

When the officers met the victim, they were told that while he was driving in the area of the 500 Block of Hubbard Street, Young fired several shots toward his vehicle while standing in a yard.

Chief Ennis says the victim was struck by one of the shots and was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle. His injuries are not considered life-threatening. The vehicle the victim was in was occupied by two other people at the time of the shooting. They were not injured.

Young will be transported to the Pike County Jail where he will be held on a $50,000 bond.
