OVERTIME: Mountain Lions prey on Cienega

MARANA, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Mountain View christened its new million dollar turf field with a 21-0 shutout win over Cienega Friday night.

In a tale of two teams that are complete opposites. The Mountain Lions (2-0) run game eventually wore down the Bobcats who's primary form of moving the ball is through the air.

Mountain View senior running back Richie Estrada ran for 175 yards and two touchdowns. His 17-yard scamper in the second quarter gave the Lions a 7-0 lead. His 84-yard run to paydirt in the fourth sealed the deal.

Mountain View's defense made life miserable for Cienega (0-2) junior quarterback Adrielle Alvarado. He was intercepted early by Corbin Gouby. Matt Thomas, Garrett Darmer, Gouby and Brandon Stoutmeyer were among those who recorded sacks on the night.

Cody Rochon put the Mountain Lions up 14-0 early in the 4th quarter when he found Andre Duncan for a 27-yard scoring strike.

Mountain View hosts Gilbert Mesquite next Friday night while Cienega host (2-0) Catalina Foothills.
