Lancers slash the Celts

Tucson, AZ (KOLD) - When I asked about Salpointe's brutal three game schedule to open the season, head coach Dennis Bene summed it up like this, "It prepares us for the playoffs, for a championship, and nothing else matters." Flash forward to Saturday night, those three games are in the bag and the message is clear after the Lancers crush Crespi 47-7.

The Lancers played their second road game out of state in the past three weeks. They destroyed their first two opponents, Liberty and Sabino, by a combined score of 97-14. Crespi rolled over Taft 67-0 in their season opener, so on paper, Saturday's matchup appeared to be a good one. In reality it was another Lancer beat down. The end result from Encino, California was a 40 point win.

Salpointe has easily become the team to beat in the Tucson area, maybe even the state. The Lancers are 3-0 and exact revenge on a Crespi team that handed them their only regular season loss of the year last season.
