Ga. freshmen now required to choose career paths

All Georgia high school freshmen are now expected to consider areas of study that are geared toward careers.

The new program is part of a national trend to align coursework with the needs of employers. The state is requiring ninth graders to pick one of 17 broad career clusters. 

Critics of the plan say most high school freshman are not capable of making a decision with a potentially lifelong impact.
