Oct. 7: all Columbus Regional obstetrics services will be in The Medical Center

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Starting Oct. 7, all labor and delivery services at Columbus Regional will be held at The Medical Center, instead of splitting the services between the Doctors Hospital and The Medical Center.

At midnight Oct. 6, all deliveries will cease at Doctor's Hospital.

"We made this decision following an in-depth review and analysis of past and anticipated future volume of deliveries at Doctors Hospital," says Tamara Jackson, president and CEO of Doctors Hospital, in a press release. "We anticipate the delivery volume at Doctors Hospital will decline over time due to the dynamics of our local marketplace."

During the Fiscal Year that ended June 30, The Medical Center had 3,293 deliveries and Doctors Hospital had 1,019.

This combined obstetrics service at The Medical Center brings together the best technologies available at The Medical Center and of Doctor's Hospital.
