LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

In what culminated in Las Vegas' worst kept secret, pop singer Britney Spears confirmed Tuesday her multi-date residency on the Strip, beginning in late December.

As she announced in an early morning live television appearance, Spears, who was joined by  more than 1,300 Caesars Entertainment workers and their friends and family in a southern Nevada desert area, will set up her Britney: Piece of Me shows at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino.

The first of the 16 dates for her residency begins on Dec. 27. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m., with tickets ranging from $59 to $179.

According to Planet Hollywood, Britney's residency will stretch over the next two years. The first dates for Piece of Me run Dec. 27-31, Jan. 29-Feb. 1, 2014, Feb. 4, Feb. 7-8, Feb. 12., Feb. 14-15, Feb. 18-19 and Feb. 22, according to Ticketmaster.

For much of this year, reports indicated a deal was on to bring the one-time teen sensation to the Strip, with Caesars Entertainment emerging as the one to land Spears.

In February, Caesars confirmed "active talks" with Britney's camp. Terms of the two-year residency were not disclosed, but TMZ reported the show will include 96 total shows at $15 million a year.
