Agent Wayne Smith confirms to News Leader 9 that Annie Belle Jarrett's boyfriend, Sylvester Sherman, has been arrested for possessing a gun as a convicted felon, and is one of many suspects in the case of the missing woman whose body may have been found yesterday.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) has confirmed to News Leader 9 that they are conducting a murder investigation after a woman's body was found in a shallow makeshift grave behind a home off Crawford Creek Rd. in Warm Springs.

They believe the body may belong to Jarrett, a relative of Shiloh, Ga. Mayor Jesse Ellison. However, authorities have not confirmed the identity at this time.

"It's a tragedy, so close right here at home, my sister," says Jeanette Turner, Annie's sister.

Jarrett has been missing for two days before authorities found a body just 20 minutes from her home in Shiloh.

"We got a phone call yesterday saying she was missing and hadn't nobody talk to her nor seen her since Monday night so we all got together and called for some help," says Turner.

That help came from Shiloh police and agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Authorities have not yet confirmed that the body found in Warms Springs early Wednesday morning is Jarrett but have reason to believe it is. The family also doubts that Annie Jarrett is still alive.

GBI investigators have been at Jarrett's home looking for clues that may lead them to the reason behind her disappearance. Earlier investigators were looking through her car for answers.

Investigator Special Agent Wayne Smith explains what they were looking for.

"To see if there is any evidence of a struggle, to see if there is any evidence of someone from this location having being at the grave-sight, such as dirt on shoes or anything like that, or dirty clothes in the house."

Authorities say Jarrett's boyfriend was brought in for questioning, and they say the land where the body was found is believed to be owned by the family of Jarrett's boyfriend.

Still, Jeanette Turner wants answers, and her family are banding together during this difficult time.

"A family that stays together prays together so we got to go on."

Investigators say it could likely take a day or a couple of days to positively confirm that the body is that of Annie Belle Jarrett.
