BF Productions presents Shakespeare on The River: A Midsummer Night's Dream on September 20, 21, and 27 at 6 p.m. and September 29 at 2 p.m.

The production takes place at the Columbus Riverwalk Amphitheater on the corner of Front Ave. & 6th Street.

The family-friendly performance is sponsored by the National Civil War Naval Museum, the Delta Iota Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., The Winship Clinic, Salon Bellage and Day Spa, and Yellow Mojo Productions.

BF Productions is working in association with The Damascus Way, a shelter of The Valley Rescue Mission. This 56–bed facility provides long-term and short-term programs. The emergency shelter provides temporary relief from physical trauma such as fire, eviction, or escape from domestic violence for women and children.

BF Productions is asking theatergoers to bring non-perishable food items and/or gently used women/children clothing for admittance to the show. This production is free and open to the public. All donations will be given to The Damascus Way.

"We are thrilled about this special performance on the Chattahoochee," said Tamara L. Curry, director of A Midsummer Night's Dream, "Free arts events like Shakespeare by the River bring families and neighbors together, and for this performance, they actually make a generous impact on the community in which we live by assisting the Damascus Way."

A Midsummer Night's Dream is a play by William Shakespeare that portrays the events surrounding the marriage of the Duke of Athens, Theseus, and Hippolyta. These include the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of six amateur actors, who are controlled and manipulated by the fairies that inhabit the forest in which most of the play is set.

Admission to Shakespeare by The River is free and open to the public. However, non-perishable food items and gently used clothing will be collected at the box office for Damascus Way.  Audiences are strongly encouraged to arrive early to get the best seats.  Visit Columbus Parks and Recreation website for a complete list of park rules at http://www.columbusga.org/parks/.
