"We are thrilled about this special performance on the Chattahoochee," said Tamara L. Curry, director of A Midsummer Night's Dream, "Free arts events like Shakespeare by the River bring families and neighbors together, and for this performance, they actually make a generous impact on the community in which we live by assisting the Damascus Way."
A Midsummer Night's Dream is a play by William Shakespeare that portrays the events surrounding the marriage of the Duke of Athens, Theseus, and Hippolyta. These include the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of six amateur actors, who are controlled and manipulated by the fairies that inhabit the forest in which most of the play is set.
Admission to Shakespeare by The River is free and open to the public. However, non-perishable food items and gently used clothing will be collected at the box office for Damascus Way. Audiences are strongly encouraged to arrive early to get the best seats. Visit Columbus Parks and Recreation website for a complete list of park rules at http://www.columbusga.org/parks/.
