VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Students will soon benefit from equipment seized from a marijuana grow house by the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office.

$50,000 worth of equipment confiscated in a major pot operation in 2010 is being donated to four Lowndes County schools.

The grow lights, fans, water pumps, humidifiers, and CO2 generators will be used by students in agriculture and horticulture education classes.

"There's a lot of science behind growing any kind of plant, even the illegal type. We're showing them that even though this stuff can be used for very bad things, it can just as well be used for good," said Lowndes High Ag teacher, Micheal Barnes.

Students will soon start growing all types of vegetables, snapdragons, ferns, and other types of plants.
