COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Detectives have confirmed to News Leader 9 that a second suspect has been arrested for the murder of David Scott.

Jalyn Dixon, 20, was arrested Thursday September 26 and charged with murder.

The Columbus Police Department confirms that the first suspect, 22-year-old Tyrecquiss Shaewaun Wells,  a.ka. Shay Shay, was arrested earlier this week and charged with murder.

Scott was killed at the intersection of 7th Street and Coolidge Avenue on September 19.

Wells is also charged with Aggravated Assault in an incident that occurred on Baltic Court also on Sept. 19. A man was shot in the stomach there; however his condition is currently unknown. These are both continuing investigations.

More charges against Wells are expected.

Police said Wells was spotted on the interstate and led officers on a pursuit through the streets of Columbus ending on Floyd Road.

Jo Carolyn Dowdell, the mother of murder victim, David Scott, is recounting the night her youngest son was taken from her.  She lives only a block away from the place where he was killed.  Dowdell has been in total despair, but today, she is smiling again for the first time since that evening.

"Right now, as a mother, I feel good.  I feel great.  And I can stand up better today," said Dowdell.

She remembers how she first learned about her son's fate.

"One of my son's friends was coming down the street at the time, and she came and knocked on my door. And she told me to put on some clothes because my son had been shot. I jumped in the car and went up there.  But the ambulance, they were working with him, the ambulance was working with him…,"   Dowdell was too upset to continue, but she later remarked that she will be in the front row of Wells' first court appearance.

A hearing for Wells has been set at Recorder's Court for Sept. 27.

Department of Correction officials said Wells was released from jail last year for a burglary conviction, and since then, he made the news when he was shot during a struggle for an illegal gun at his home on Valencia Drive in March.
