GRAFTON, OH (WOIO) -

The mayor of Grafton Village was arrested early Saturday morning and charged OVI.

According to the Lorain County Sheriff's Dept. while on patrol at 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning, Grafton Police located a damaged fire hydrant on Fox Run Dr. and a license plate near it.

A check of the license plate revealed it belonged to a vehicle owned by Megan Flanigan of Grafton.  About 20 minutes later deputies Sheriff's Deputies found a heavily damaged white SUV in the roadway.

While running that plate, Mayor Flanigan returned to the scene smelling of alcohol.

Ms. Flanigan was given several field sobriety tests, which she failed. She was then taken to the Lorain County Jail for a breathalyzer test.

In addition to OVI, Ms. Flanigan OVI was charged with reasonable control and failure to stop after an accident.

She is expected in the Elyria Municipal court sometime next week.
