BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Jury selection began Monday in the capital murder trial of Jeremy Radau. He is accused of beating 74-year-old Charles Pickell to death.

Pickell was found dead at his Beauvoir Manor apartment in September of 2009. Investigators say a video, taken by one of Pickell's neighbors, showed Jeremy Radau and Megan Kinberger at the apartment the morning Pickell was beaten to death.

Biloxi police originally asked for help finding the couple but later found out they were already in jail accused of burglarizing a Gulfport business on the same day Pickell was murdered

When investigators first talked to the suspects they denied any part in the crime and told police they did not know the victim. Later, police said Kinberger admitted she and Radau went to Pickell's apartment to rob him.

Kinberger told police she went to the bathroom and when she came out she saw Pickell in the recliner bleeding from the head and Radau with cash in his hands. Police say she also told them Pickell was moving and making noises when she and Radau left the apartment.

Police found a bat with blood on it in Randau's car. DNA tests confirmed that blood was Pickell's and the coroner's report showed he died from blows to the head.

At the time of the murder Radau, 31, was out on bond accused of stabbing someone the year before. Radau is facing the death penalty for the robbery and murder of Pickell.

Kinberger has already pleaded guilty in the case. She is serving a 40 year sentence for manslaughter, robbery and burglary.
