Your Exclusive Look at What's Ahead on News Leader 9 at 11

Good evening I'm Barbara Gauthier in the WTVM Newsroom.  Hope to see you tonight for News Leader 9 at 11.  Here's a look at some of the stories we're working on for the newscast.

The clock is ticking toward what many are calling an inevitable government shutdown.  Democrats and Republicans are fighting over a short-term spending bill that must be passed before the federal budget year ends at midnight. Coming up on News Leader 9 at 11 we've got the latest on the debate and will tell you who will feel the greatest impact should the shutdown happen.

Plus, the Georgia Attorney General clears State Senator Josh McKoon and attorney Frank Myers of any wrongdoing in their dealing with the Muscogee County School Board and how the board chose and pays the law firm that represents the district.  But now McKoon is calling for a change in the law when it comes to so called "no bid" contracts.  We'll tell you what he's proposing.

And Auburn University is taking steps to help ensure they don't fall victim to random violence.   University officials taught safety techniques to prepare faculty and students for what to do should there be an active shooter on campus.  We'll take you to tonight's training.

Join us for these stories and much more tonight on News Leader 9 at 11.
