TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -

Heads up if you're planning on attending Saturday's University of Alabama homecoming parade.

Attendees will need to get up very early and learn the new route. This year, the parade will step off at 7 a.m. from the corner of 2nd Avenue and University Boulevard. It will then move west down 19th Avenue.

This is a new, shorter route for the parade. We asked the Director of UA Gameday Operations about the changes. She says it all comes down to the early kickoff for the Alabama vs. Georgia State game.

"When the game was moved to 11:20 [a.m.], if we had started the parade at the regular time, proceeded in the regular route, we wouldn't have been out of the stadium area with the parade by the time it was time to clear the stadium and have the fans come in," Gina Johnson said.
