Who is exempt from health care coverage?

Now that the Affordable Care Act is in full effect, Americans can either pay for insurance or pay a fee. However, some people qualify for an exemption.

But, can you be exempt from the new health care law without paying the penalty fee?

The answer is yes, in some circumstances.

According to healthcare.gov, if the lowest priced health care coverage available to you would cost more than 8 percent of your household income, you quality for an exemption.

You're also exempt if you don't file a tax return because your income is too low, or if you file for bankruptcy.

Some exemptions called 'regular exemptions' center around personal problems.
