FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) - The West Central Georgia Chapter of the American Red Cross has opened its doors on Fort Benning.
The ribbon cutting ceremony was held Friday afternoon. The new offices are located in Building 482 on Anderson Street on Main Post.
The Red Cross offices had previously been located in Soldiers' Plaza, in a refurbished World War II era structure.
"We also offer the same services that we provide to the soldiers, we'll just do it out of a much better location," said Michele Walton, Service to the Armed Forces. "And a much better place for the volunteers to come and serve the red cross and the service members."
The same building will also be home to a newly re-opened food back which serves soldiers and their families in need of assistance.
The Red Cross links soldiers and their families through an emergency communications center.
