Search on for suspect who tried to kidnap girl from Dothan home

DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) -

The Dothan Police Department says it responded to the attempted kidnapping of a 14-year-old girl at her family's home in the early morning hours of Friday. 

Officers were called to a home on Denton Road where the homeowner said the family was awakened by the screams of the girl after unknown man came into the home and tried to kidnap the child.

The scream caused the suspect to release the girl and flee the home. Though the girl's father chased the suspect, he was unable to catch him.

The suspect was said to be approximately 5'9" to 5'10" in height and approximately 180 pounds. The victim said the man was wearing all black clothing and had on a back pack.

Police are asking anyone with information about the case or identity of the suspect to call the Dothan Police Department at 334-615-3000.
