COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A house in Columbus went up in flames in the middle of the night and a mother and three children were sent to the hospital.
The children are 13, 11, and 5 years old, respectively.
While the cause of the fire is unknown at this time, investigators are searching for a good samaritan who helped the family. They say they are searching for a man who knocked on the door and helped pull the mother and her children to safety.
Antonio Hall also helped the family get to safety. He says it was the first fire he has ever seen.
"I was just getting in the bed when I heard that loud explosion once I run outside I saw the family running down the side walk, so I grabbed the little girl picked her up and brought her up here and she didn't want me to put her down," says Hall.
Anyone with information can call fire investigators at 706-653-3500.
The fire started just before midnight at a home located in the 1600 block of Melody Dr. in Columbus.
Preliminary reports indicate that the woman and children's injuries are non-life threatening. The four victims were transported to the burn center in Augusta, Ga.
