Exclusive Preview of News at 5 & 6

Hey there, this is Jason Dennis at WTVM. Here's what we are working on for the news at 5 and 6!

4 American soldiers, including two Rangers stationed on Fort Benning, were killed in action during combat operations in Afghanistan. We also learned today, the government shutdown is holding up the death benefits to the families of those soldiers. Find out more about the tragedy and what Congress may be doing to help.

It's day 8 of the government shutdown, and President Obama had some strong words during a lengthy news conference this afternoon. We hear from the commander of chief and top Republicans, with the debt ceiling looming in the near future.

A Columbus mother and her children are still in the hospital after a fire destroyed their home overnight. We'll tell you about the search for good samaritan who saved their lives and what firefighters say about keeping your home safe from tragedies like this, during this fire prevention week.
