Tuskegee-Morehouse Classic may leave the Fountain City

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Oct. 12, will mark the 78th year the Tuskegee-Morehouse Classic will take place in Columbus. Now, the football rivalry could soon leave the Fountain City.

Classic Committee Chairman Howard Willis says other cities, including Phenix City and Montgomery, Ala., have approached him about moving the game.

Franklin Douglass, an organizer for the Tuskegee-Morehouse Classic explains why the event is so important. "We're all in support of the universities and teams that are represented here in this Classic, for scholarships, for students to be able to go to school whether they have the money or not," he says.

The Tuskegee-Morehouse Football Classic kicked off 2 p.m., with a parade at 9 a.m.
