HARRIS COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - Early voting kicked off Monday in Harris County where voters will decide on whether or not to continue a special purpose local option sales tax, or SPLOST.
If approved, the one cent SPLOST tax will go to support local projects such as improving public safety or updating roads, streets and bridges.
Harris County voters approved the SPLOST in 2008.
Regular voting is set for Tuesday November 5.
The SPLOST will also be discussed at a town hall meeting in Harris County tonight. That meeting will be held at the Harris County High School auditorium from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Several state congressmen will be at that meeting to answer questions.
