COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Author Lucinda Roy visited Columbus State University on Tuesday talking about the mass shooting at Virginia Tech from 2009.

Roy wrote the book "No Right to Remain Silent."

Roy was a professor at Virginia Tech at the time of the shooting and gives her firsthand account of events leading up to the day 32 students and faculty members were killed and 17 were wounded by a mentally deranged student Seung-Hui Cho.

Cho was a former student of Roy, who says she tried repeatedly to get him help for his mental illness.

Freshman at CSU are assigned to read Roy's book this year.
