Woman thrown out of SUV on US 19

Posted: Updated:
LEESBURG, GA (WALB) -

Lee County Sheriff's office tells WALB that a woman behind the wheel of a Chevy Trailblazer was using her cell phone late this afternoon, ran off US 19 South, over-corrected, and rolled over several times.

She was thrown out of the SUV. She's at Phoebe Putney Hospital tonight where she is expected to recover.

Deputies say it's proof of the dangers of distracted driving.

"Pay attention to what you're doing on the road, because anything can happen at any time, and make sure if you run off the road not to over correct, we all tend to have the tendency to overcorrect when we run off the road, but we got to have that control," said Reggie Rachals, Sheriff, Lee County Sheriff's office.

Deputies tell us the woman was not wearing her seat belt. No one else was hurt.
