Strive 2 thrive looking for more help

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Strive to thrive is looking for volunteers to help families pull themselves out of poverty. Thursday night south Georgians gathered at Porterfield United Methodist Church to sign up to serve as mentors in the program.

Organizers say tonight's orientation was a success, but they still have room for more volunteers.

"It's really important for the entire community to get involved because poverty affects us all, whether we are in poverty or not, these families are motivated individuals that are looking for that hand up to be able to get out of poverty," said Ausha Jackson, Executive Director, Strive to thrive.
