There will be more vehicles on the auction block than ever before at the Alabama Department of Transportation's Absolute Public Auction Friday, Oct. 25. People in the market for high quality, used vehicles at a low price should not miss the chance to scoop up great deals during the semi-annual auction. The auction, located at 537 Traffic Operations Drive in Montgomery, begins at 9 a.m.

Vehicles of all makes and models are up for bid including trucks, vans, SUVs, farm tractors, and heavy construction equipment. Special truck and equipment financing will be available to qualified buyers through J.M. Wood Auction Company.

Potential buyers can view auction inventory at the ALDOT facility Thursday, Oct. 24 from
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Buyers may also preview items and register to bid on the Internet at www.jmwood.com. Online bidding begins Friday morning.

Auctions held in FY 2012, brought in over $10 million, generating funding for ALDOTs fleet renewal program.

"Our auctions not only provide the public the chance to buy well-maintained vehicles at below retail prices but also allows us to save the state money through our Fleet Renewal Program," said Transportation Director John Cooper.

Media should contact Rebecca Leigh White in the ALDOT Media Relations Bureau at

334-353-6534 or whitere@dot.state.al.us to schedule on-site or recorded interviews prior to and during the auction or acquire hi-res photos and B-roll of auction activities.

ALDOT's mission is to provide a safe, efficient, environmentally and economically sound transportation network across Alabama. For further information, visit www.dot.state.al.us.
