ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WMBF) – A Robeson County teacher has been arrested and suspended from her job after she was allegedly caught at school intoxicated on alcohol.

Robin Barnhill, a sixth-grade language arts teacher at Townsend Middle School in Maxton, had a blood-alcohol content of .34, more than four times the legal limit to drive, according to a sheriff's report.

Barnhill was in possession of a plastic bottle of orange juice and a glass bottle of vodka, the report states.

Barnhill is suspended pending the outcome of the investigation, said Tasha Oxendine, spokesperson for the Public Schools of Robeson County. Barnhill has been an employee with the system since 2001 as a language arts teacher.

Barnhill was charged Monday with two misdemeanor counts of possession or consumption of fortified wine, liquor or mixed beverages on unauthorized premises, according to Capt. Kathy Torre of the Robeson County Sheriff's Office. Her first appearance in Robeson County District Court will be on November 1.
