COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

One of the biggest critics of the healthcare law will make an appearance at Columbus. Dr. Ben Carson is an author and retired pediatric neurosurgeon who is scheduled to speak at the Trade Center, but his recent remarks have upset members of the NAACP.

At the 2013 Values Voter Summit held earlier in October, Carson said Obamacare is the worst thing to happen to America since slavery.

Leaders of the Columbus chapter of the NAACP say they are disappointed in Carson's choice of words, calling them 'insensitive'. They held a press conference to express their disappointment with Carson's invitation to speak that the second annual Sue Marie and Bill Turner Servant Leadership Gala.

Carson has deflected the criticism and is being touted as a possible presidential candidate. He is well-known for being the first surgeon to successfully separate conjoined twins.
