Phenix City native, former NBA player laid to rest

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) -

A former NBA player and Phenix City native was laid to rest Monday.

Funeral services for Joe Merriweather were held at Franchise Missionary Baptist Church in Phenix City this afternoon.

Merriweather passed away earlier this month in Columbus.

The 10-year NBA veteran played for the Houston Rockets, the Atlanta Hawks, the New Orleans Jazz, the New York Knicks and the Kansas City Kings.
