(WTVM) -

Erin King, a graduate from Columbus High School, has been included in thebestschools.org's list of The World's 50 Smartest Teenagers.

The list features teenagers from all over the world, places such as Iowa, Macedonia, Pennsylvania and Singapore. They are not measured by the same criteria. Some are mathematicians, others are philanthropists, and Nolan Gould—number 17—plays Luke Dunphy on the hit TV show Modern Family.

King is now a member of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) class of 2016. She is especially recognized in the list for creatively launching her MIT early acceptance letter up 91,000 feet into the earth's atmosphere with a balloon, and retrieving it with her amateur radio skills. The project was part a a challenge from MIT to their 2016 class to do something unexpected with their acceptance letters.

Other teens from Georgia who made the list include number 10,  Sitan "Stan" Chen, and number 34, Stephen R. Stafford II.
