COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Some students at Rigdon Road Elementary School won big for their solar system projects at the Columbus Fair this weekend.
Contestants from Columbus, Phenix City and Russell County entered their best science projects.
Three students from Rigdon Road won the top three spots for their amazing work. Those projects are now on display at the Columbus Civic Center.
We spoke with a fourth grade science teacher from the school on Wednesday on what the projects were made for.
"It was the STEM project with the Greater Columbus Fair, and the entire fourth grade… entered projects, and we actually had the most participation from elementary through high school," said Lauren Gasser. "So not only were the children recognized at the fair, also our campus as well for having the most participation."
Jace Barker won first place, Jahari Hussey won second place, and Traniya Williams won third place!
