AUBURN, AL (WSFA) -

The Auburn Police Department is investigating a shooting that left two people injured overnight. Investigators say the shooting happened around 10 p.m. at the University Village apartment complex on Longleaf Drive.

Officers were called to the complex on a report of "shots fired". When officers met the person who called in the report, they were told that two juveniles familiar to him came into his apartment and demanded property.

Authorities say the person said that during the incident a gun was brandished and an altercation took place. Shots were then exchanged between the apartment owner and the suspects.

The suspects fled the scene, but they didn't get very far. Officers found both at the Murphy gas station across the street. Both sustained gunshot wounds.

Authorities arrested both men before transporting them to a local hospital. While the suspects are not identified by name, authorities would say they are 16 and 17 year old Opelika residents.

The 16-year-old was treated and released from the hospital and then transported to the Lee County Jail. The 17-year-old remains hospitalized though he is expected to be transported to the jail later Thursday.

Both suspects are now charged with robbery in the first degree and bonds set at $100,000 each.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and more arrests may be made.
