PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A mother from Avondale has been arrested for burning her 3-year-old daughter with a "Hot Pocket," according to police.

On Oct. 17, a case manager from Child Protective Services called the Avondale police after receiving an anonymous call reporting the scars on the little girl's face.

Katia Lieutaud, 35, first denied shoving hot food in her toddler's face. When police spoke with Lieuteud's fiance, his explanation was different from Lieuteud's story. She later admitted to the incident.

The child had second-degree burns, according to the probable cause statement. Police said the child had scars and scabs after not getting medical treatment.

Lieutaud faces charges of child abuse and failure to report neglect.

All of her six children have been turned over to foster care.
