COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

The East Alabama Humane Society, 3rd quarter winners of our Give 9 Campaign, held a pet adoption event today at Headquarter Nissan from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event was part of the Give 9 award, which includes a day of service from News Leader 9, and $5,000.

"We're a no-kill shelter, says Miranda Steiner with the East Alabama Humane Society. "We're the only no-kill shelter in Russell County. We pull from a very high-kill shelter, Phenix City Animal Shelter. That's where we get most of our dogs. We save them from being euthanized."

Steiner says the reward money from the Give 9 Campaign has made a difference. "We've been able to pull more dogs from the shelter, we've been able to pay off some of our medical bills, and now we have that fund that we can keep in case of emergencies," she says.

Voting is currently taking place for our 4th quarter winner. You can nominate, and vote for your favorite charity in the Chattahoochee Valley area by visiting our Give 9 page.
