First dog park in Columbus now open

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Columbus officials cut the ribbon on the city's first dog park today, Oct. 26.

The new dog park, located at Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center on 3535 South Lumpkin Rd., has separate facilities for larger and smaller dogs.

"Dog is man's best friend, so it's a chance for you to come out and recreate. Get some exercise along with your four-legged friend as well. Make it a family affair," says James Worsley with Columbus Parks and Recreation.

Today's opening ceremony had several activities for dog lovers, including pet adoptions and a special kid zone for children.
