MADISON, AL (WAFF) -

A costume contest is always fun, but when you throw dogs into the mix, you're bound to have a good time.

The Howl-O-Ween Party is an annual charity event for Paradise Pet Resort. The event raised money to buy equipment for the Madison Police Department's K-9 Unit. Organizers are hoping to outfit the K-9 unit with cameras for their harnesses. The K-9 unit gave attendees a demonstration of the work they do by sniffing out crime.

This event raised money through a raffle that continues through Oct. 31.

Rusty Howard, one of the organizers, said, "They do so much for the community, so we're just trying to give back to them."

Organizers want to raise about $1,600 for the new equipment. They said they're halfway there.
