Del Taco will be opening Wednesday at the former site of Boardwalk Burgers on EastChase Parkway in east Montgomery.

Barry Barnhart, Vice President of Restaurant Operations for Larry Blumberg and Associates (LBA) Properties, said fresh food is the trademark of Del Taco and breakfast will be part of the offering.

"At Del Taco, all menu items are prepared to order using fresh ingredients including cheddar cheese grated from 40-pound blocks, hand-made Pico de gallo salsa, lard-free beans slow cooked from scratch and steak and marinated chicken grilled in the restaurant," he said. "The menu includes Mexican offerings of tacos, burritos, quesadillas and nachos as well as American favorites like hamburgers, crinkle-cut fries and shakes. Del Taco also serves breakfast featuring a full line of breakfast burritos."

Del Taco will be open 24-hours a day, serving our core menu all day and will sit alongside Arby's, Wendy's and other restaurants near the Taylor Road entrance to EastChase. Customers will be able to taste the fresh difference, Barnhart said.

"Del Taco is several steps above other fast food Mexican restaurants because we do not have microwaves, (and) we grill our chicken and steak every hour," he said. "Everything is prepared fresh when ordered. Our value position is greatly appreciated by our guests".

Del Taco now has one Alabama store in Dothan, and Barnhart is leading LBA's plans to expand in the state. Dothan-based LBA includes a restaurant division led by Barnhart, who has more than 40 years of experience in the restaurant industry.

LBA Properties is planning at least a dozen locations in Alabama including sites in Huntsville, Birmingham and Tuscaloosa. In Florida, the company is planning locations in Tallahassee and Jacksonville. Over 70 of new jobs will be created in the Capital City and those seeking employment can apply at the restaurant between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Barnhart said.

"We are very excited to bring Del Taco's fresh, made to order food to the East Chase and Montgomery community," he said. "We are confident that consumers of all ages are going to love Del Taco. The location in Dothan opened in April of this year and is doing fine. The restaurant was number one in the company in August for guest measurement scores."

This is the first of 20 Del Taco restaurants planned by Del Taco franchisee and hospitality developer and operator LBA, which operates 68 hotels in 11 states, representing the Marriott and Hilton brands. Consumers can join Del Taco's Raving Fan eClub and receive a coupon for two free grilled chicken tacos, and a free shake on their birthday. More information about Del Taco is available at http://www.deltaco.com. Del Taco has more than 550 restaurants in 18 states.
