Hilton Head waterfront park plans move forward

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -

A new waterfront park could be on the way to the Lowcountry.

Hilton Head Island's Parks and Recreation Commission are now endorsing plans to build a waterfront park at Shelter Cove. The design for the park is similar to the city of Beaufort's Waterfront Park. It will have a playground, pavilion, a lawn area and much more. Plans are expected to cost up to $4.5 million.

Now, a subcommittee must be formed to look over the plans, which will then go to council for a vote. If passed, construction could start next year.
