ADEL, GA (WALB) -

Sheriff Doug Hanks today announced the arrest of a Cook County  Detention Officer for inappropriate contact with inmates.

Bobbie Gail Moore, 39, of Hahira, Georgia, was arrested on Monday, and charged with one felony count of giving false statements to a government agency.

Moore is being held out of town and is awaiting bond.

"We take these situations very seriously, as all of our employees, myself included, are held up to a high standard of conduct and incidents such as this violate the public's trust and faith in law enforcement'', said Sheriff Hanks. "It is important that the citizens know that we will act swiftly when we receive allegations of inappropriate conduct regardless of who is involved.''

Moore had been a detention officer at the Sheriff's Office for approximately six months and was fired from her post with the arrest.
