Officials: 'All clear' given after Tift Co. High bomb threat

Update: 12:05 p.m.

Tift County Schools officials have confirmed to WALB that the 'all clear' has been given and students and teachers will be able to enter the building again.

A spokesperson with the school system said the students would eat lunch before returning to class, after the more than 2-hour evacuation.

Police say the source of the call has not been identified.

Update: 11:20 a.m.

School officials at Tift County High School say the bomb threat was originally called in to the 911 center, and dispatchers there called the school.

Update: 10:55 a.m.

Tift County Schools officials report that students are still outside of the school after evacuating the building due to a bomb threat.

According to an additional Facebook post, law enforcement has done an initial sweep of the campus and is preparing for an in-depth, room to room search.

No additional information about student safety or the initial phone call has been released.

Tift County High School officials have confirmed that they have evacuated the building of students due to what they are calling a bomb threat. School administrators originally made the decision public in a Facebook post.

Officials say emergency procedures are being implemented, and that no student pick-up is being allowed.

Administrators say the school received a threat through a phone call around 9:50 a.m.

Additionally, parents have been asked to not go to the school.
