‘Paper Towel Picasso’ visits Dean Rd. Elementary

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

Paper towels are the new canvas in art class for students at Dean Road Elementary in Auburn.

The "Paper Towel Picasso," artist Ken Delmar and Bounty® paper towels joined forces and donated hundreds of rolls of paper towels and school supplies to Dean Road after learning their supply closet had been impacted by budget cuts.

Delmar guest-taught and shared his paper towel techniques to art classes and created a gallery of the students work Monday evening.

"I would love to be able to paint and frame a lot of these and hang them around the room and the Bounty company has been very generous," said Andrea Newman, elementary art teacher at Dean Road Elementary. "They've donated over 500 rolls of paper towels to us as well as supplies. So we'll definitely be continuing to paint on paper towels."

Delmar has been painting on paper towels since the beginning of this year. He found colors to be more vibrant on the towel than on a regular canvas.
